We are in the midst of some changes and wanted to let you know about some of them. The German team has started testing a new reflector system, and
I expect within a few weeks I will move us to the new system and retire XRF019. The new system uses a similar touch tone linking system as the current environment.

All of the Seacoast, Ewarn and NHIT machines with the exception of NE1DV will support the new/current linking technique.

Each of the new reflectors will have 27 channels with channel A being a multi link with interlinking with all reflectors. Reflector channels B-Z will be regionally defined.

Linking to REF and XRF reflectors will not change, but linking to the new DCS reflectors will use more digits.

REF10c= *10c
XRF19B= 19b
DCS001b= D1B
DCS001H= D108

0 = link status
# = unlink

http://xreflector.net/neu3/

This link will show the current mapping for the first three reflectors, and more will be added soon.

Over the next few days you might want to tough tone a "0" to determine where the machines are linked to. Ive had many international QSO's today, and I expect more to come.

Things are changing fast here so I'd get on the air and get in on the action.

Best 73 DE N1FCC

New repeater in area and This month's Meeting

Today we have added a new repeater to the SNH area. This repeater is called "STN603 D" This is a Starnet repeater and provides advanced group call sign routing functionality.

If you program "STN603 D" into your local machine and key up, in the future if anyone else keys up on "STN603 D" Starnet will find you on what ever repeater you are using around the world.
Starnet uses the callsign tracking that is naturally part of IRCDDB and you can be on any machine either trust or non trust that is running IRCDDB. Please note that Dvdongles cannot use this feature, but DVAP's that are running
G4KLX Gateway can.

The Starnet group we have active is "STN603 D" I chose D for Dstar, should be easy to remember. Please note connecting and activating Starnet should not be taken lightly. I will be like a big party line, and you will ring everyone's
phone all at once. This should work well for nets and opportunities where every one needs to be talking together (emergency situation for example). Consider all machines connected as one and all key folks needed even if they are out of the area.

I think we should try a coordinated test of this new repeater with a net. Possibly Deuce can coordinate this.

Please note that because next Tuesday night is valentines day/night, This months Meeting will be Saturday morning, Feb 11, at 8:30 am at Exeter Hospital's cafeteria. This location was chosen because it is usually not busy like a restaurant would be on a weekend
We also need to support our ECOM partners and be friends with the hospitals. We may have a DRATS expert at the meeting, so possibly this meeting will have a good technical discussion. We will also continue last months discussion.

See you there

Dave

N1fcc

Tonight (2012/01/13) all local repeaters were connected to xrf005b for the 9pm Friday night net. 49 hams participated from around the world. This net is every Friday at 9pm and has been going on for two years. I manually connected all the machines, but expect to have a solution, that will automatically do the linking. The net was allot of fun, and it was nice to hear almost 50 folks giving the machines a little action. If in the future the machines don't seem linked feel free to hook em up.

Additionally I have set up N1HIT B to be linked to REF10C. This will allow seacoast users to either connect to XRF019B on the 2M node, or REF10C on the 440 node.

Also feel free to link the machines to any DPLUS or Dextra reflectors, remember they will automatically switch back to their predetermined reflectors if there has been no activity for 60 minutes.

Fred and Paul have been doing some callsign routing experiments between repeaters, and tonight I was involved in a three way QSO with each participant on a different machine.

We had a fine turnout at the Tuesday club meeting and many topics were discussed. If anyone has questions regarding the meeting, you should ask who attended, we clearly need better communication between everyone.

Please remember the Sunday night Skype meeting, If you feel that you are not on the list send me an email at amsat.org and ill add you to the fun.

Deuce is planning a Sunday night soon, so stay tuned.

We hope to have a new machine up and running soon. Gene is waiting for a few more bits to get things going.

Remember, the G4klx software is quite simple and you need no more than a computer with a sound card and internet access to set up a repeater or hotspot.

Usage of the network is still quite small, so lets get active

Dave
n1fcc
